VLD Tropes Fest

Some of you are already nearing the finished stages of your works, and we think that's great!! We've received some questions about how the submission process is going to work, and more specifically how posting will work with the AO3 Collection, so please read our submission guide below. If you have any other specific questions about submitting, AO3, and the posting schedule, please feel free to leave a comment on this post or direct your questions to vldtropesfest@gmail.com!

Guidelines for Submitting Your Entries:

Fic and Art Submissions Due: November 22
Posting Start Date: November 25

Submitting:
On or before November 22, email your completed assignment to the mods at vldtropesfest@gmail.com. Fic should be uploaded to the AO3 Collection and writers should be sending a filled out fic header along with a link to the uploaded fic in the AO3 Collection in their submission email. We are also happy to upload your fic to the collection for you. If you would like for us to handle uploading your submission, please attach your completed fic in .doc or .rtf format.

Art must be in .jpg, .png, or .tif format and sent along with a filled out art header. Artists please specify whether you would like to have your work posted to AO3 and whether you would like us to handle posting your art or if you are comfortable uploading it to the AO3 Collection yourself. If your art is NSFW, please include a cropped preview image that is SFW. If we are going to upload your art for you to AO3, please also include your list of tags for any NSFW material, or any relevant tags you want to use.

Subject line: SUBMISSION; your username; your assigned trope
IE: SUBMISSION: janedoe; kidfic

Please make sure you check that your fic and/or art is the most recent version before uploading or sending it to us. Please also ensure that you aren't submitting a version to us that is filled with your beta's notes.

How to upload your fic to the fest collection on AO3:

Post your completed work to the AO3 Collection (VLD_tropes_fest_2017) and be sure to add “vldtropesmod” as a co-author (we will remove ourselves as co-author after anonymous reveals). Do not post your submission as a new work to your own profile, it needs to be submitted to the AO3 Collection so that we can keep works anonymous until after reveals.

If you've never submitted a work to a collection before, it's not so different from posting new works as you normally would. Click on the "Post to Collection" button and you will be taken to the new works page. Fill out the fields as you normally would. In the preface section, check the "add co-author" box and add "vldtropesmod" as a co-author to your submission.

After filling everything in and previewing your submission to make sure your formatting is all good, post your work. It will show up as unrevealed, but you will still have access to edit your work.

Submit your filled out fic header and a link to your uploaded work on AO3 after you post it to the AO3 Collection to vldtropesmod@gmail.com

Need an Extension?
If you think you'll need an extension, please email the mods (note: discussions for extensions should take place before November 22) and let us know how much more time you think you’ll need to complete your work.

All emails requesting extensions must include your Work In Progress and an estimation of how much more time you'll need. This goes for 2nd and 3rd extensions as well.

We will not grant extensions without a copy of your work as it stands so far. This goes for everyone, whether you've been in fandom for years and have participated in a million previous fests or are a brand-spanking-newbie.
