VLD Tropes Fest

The sign ups for VLD Tropes Fest are almost here! September 25th is quickly approaching! Are you getting excited? We sure are!

This post is to preview the sign up form for those that like to plan early and go over how the process will work if you are unfamiliar with anonymous fests.

Reminders:

1. Sign Ups will open on September 25 at 1PM EDT (5PM UTC) and will be first come, first served.


2. The writer participants will be capped at 50 writers. There is no cap for artists.


3. Proxy and placeholder sign ups on the sign up post are allowed, as well as emailing in your sign up form after 1PM EDT to vldtropesfest@gmail.com. If your emailed sign up is received before 1PM EDT we will not accept it.


4. There will be separate sign up posts for writers and artists. Make sure you pay attention to which post you are signing up on!


5. After sign ups are over you will receive your assignment based on your sign up form preferences October 10-11.


6. This is an anonymous fest! Please do not share your work with anyone outside of your alpha/beta readers until after the big reveal!


7. All fics will be posted to the AO3 collection created for this fest. More information can be found about the AO3 collection here.

An important message to artists: When the fest was first announced we said that artists could submit their work directly to the VLD Tropes Fest tumblr account for posting. We've had to change that stipulation because submissions are not able to be sent anonymously. Instead, we will be posting your art submissions to Dreamwidth, and AO3 if you request it, and sharing a promotional link on the Tumblr account with a preview image. After the big reveal we encourage you to post your art submission to your own journals and we will reblog them to the Tumblr account to boost your notes! Just be sure to send us the post using the message feature, or tag us in it or use the fest tag (#vldtropesfest and #vldtropesfest2017).

Sign ups overview: When you sign up with your filled out form comments will be screened and anonymous commenting will be turned on for those that do not have a Dreamwidth account. (Dreamwidth accounts are free, so you are encouraged to make one before sign ups to make your life a little easier when signing up!) We will be sharing a participant list after sign ups close to share the writers and artists creating for the first inaugural Tropes Fest, but we're keeping your sign ups screened so that it adds to the anonymous and mysterious element of the fest. This way we'll be keeping it under wraps the tropes that you're interested in creating for.

When assignments are sent out we ask that you remember to reply with a quick confirmation that you have received your assignment!
